# 404 page

> The page shoppers see when a link leads nowhere – a friendly message, a search field and links back to the store.

## At a glance

- **In the editor:** 404 page
- **Where it goes:** Its own template – open that kind of page in the editor
- **In the presets:** Every preset: 404 page
- **Settings:** 9
- **App blocks:** Yes

The 404 page has only a color scheme and spacing. Its text comes from the theme's translations; change it in **Online Store › Themes › ⋯ › Edit default theme content**.

> **Tip**
>
> When you rename a product or collection, Shopify can create a redirect from the old address automatically. Check **Online Store › Navigation › URL redirects** for old links that still bring visitors here.
