# Age verification

> A screen that covers the store until visitors confirm they are old enough, for stores that sell alcohol, tobacco or other age-restricted products. The answer is remembered for 1 to 90 days.

## At a glance

Age verification lives in the **Popups** group and starts hidden – show the section to turn it on.

## Set it up

1. Write the **Heading** – the question, such as *Are you 18 or older?* – and an optional **Text**.
2. Set the **Confirm button label** and **Decline button label**.
3. Write what visitors see **After declining**: a heading and a text.
4. Choose how long the answer is remembered: **Remember the answer for** 1–90 days.

## Look

**Show logo**, **Heading size** and **Small print**. **Backdrop darkness** and **Backdrop blur** decide how much of the store shows through behind the question.

## While you edit

The screen also covers the store in the theme editor. Turn off **Show in the theme editor** while you work on the rest of the store – shoppers always see it.

> Age verification is a notice, not a legal check of a visitor's age. Find out what your country requires for selling age-restricted products.
