Size and tag are separate

Size decides how the heading looks – Extra large to Extra small. HTML tag decides what it means – h1 to h4, or a plain Paragraph for a large line that is not a heading. Search engines and screen readers read the tag, so:

  • Keep one h1 per page, usually the page title or the hero headline.
  • Use h2 for section headings and h3 for headings inside them.
  • Make the size whatever looks right – a small h2 or a large h3 are both fine.

Options

  • Alignment: Like the section, or left, center or right for this block only.
  • Maximum width: 10–60 characters. Long titles break into balanced lines instead of running across the page; 20–30 is a comfortable headline width.
  • Headings follow Theme settings › Typography: the heading font, size, letter spacing, line height and uppercase setting.

The heading text accepts bold, italic and links.
