Footer

The footer closes every page with your logo, menus, contact details and a newsletter signup, above a bottom bar with policies, payment icons and the country and language selectors.

The footer lives in the Footer group and appears on every page. Its columns are blocks: add, remove and reorder them freely.

Set it up

  1. Open the Footer group at the bottom of the section list in the theme editor.
  2. Start with a Logo and text block: your logo (or the store name) and two lines about the store.
  3. Add a Menu block for each column of links – typically Shop, Help and About. Create those menus first in Online Store › Navigation.
  4. Add a Newsletter block so shoppers can subscribe from any page.
  5. Check the bottom bar: policy links, payment icons and the selectors.

Blocks

  • Logo and text: a logo (up to 300 px wide), a short text and your social links from Theme settings › Social media.
  • Menu: a heading and a menu. Keep each menu to six or seven links so the columns stay balanced.
  • Text: a heading and text, for opening hours, an address or a short promise.
  • Newsletter: a heading, a text and a signup field. Subscribers join your customer list in Shopify with the newsletter tag.
  • Image: a picture such as a certification badge or a hand-drawn signature.
  • Custom Liquid: your own code, for a trust badge from a service or similar. See Customizing code.

On phones, the columns stack one below the other.

Bottom bar

  • Copyright name: the name after ©. Leave it empty to use the store name.
  • Show policy links: links to the policies you wrote in Settings › Policies.
  • Show payment icons: the icons of the payment methods your store accepts, from your payment settings.
  • Show Follow on Shop: the Follow on Shop button, when Shop Pay is on.
  • Show Powered by Shopify: off by default.
  • Show country and language: the selectors, with separate switches for each.

Spacing and color

Color scheme sets the footer's colors – the presets use the alternate band (scheme 2) for a soft close. Space above the footer, Top padding and Bottom padding adjust how much air surrounds it.
