Blog and pages
The blog and blog posts, pages built from blocks, policy pages, the About, Contact and landing templates, customer accounts, the password page, the 404 page and gift cards.
Blog
The Blog section on the blog template lists your posts. Show the newest post large puts the latest post across the top; Show tag filter lets readers filter by tag. Post cards can be Plain, a Card or Title on the image, with their own hover effect.
Blog – every setting and block explainedBlog post
The Blog post section shows one post. It can show:
- The reading time, the first tag, the date and the author above the title.
- A table of contents built from the headings in the post, beside the text on wide screens, and a reading progress bar.
- Share buttons under the title, beside the text while scrolling, or below it.
- The author box with the name, photo and bio from the author's staff account in Shopify.
- The previous and next post.
- Related posts: posts from the same blog that share a tag come first, then the newest ones (2 to 4).
Write headings in the post with the Heading 2 and Heading 3 styles of the editor in Shopify admin, so the table of contents can find them.
Blog post – every setting and block explainedPages
Pages from Online Store › Pages use the Page section. Without blocks, it shows the page content. Add blocks to arrange the page yourself: Page content, Store policy, Heading, Text, Button, Image, Collapsible row and Divider, in any order.
Page – every setting and block explainedPage templates
Pick a template for a page in its admin page under Theme template.
| Template | Contains |
|---|---|
| page | The Page section. |
| page.about | An image banner, the page text, your story beside a photo, three values, a timeline of how the products are made and a signup form. Replace the photos and texts in the editor. |
| page.contact | The Contact form section and a FAQ. |
| page.landing | A page built from the Section section, Expanding panels and the page content – a starting point for campaign pages. |
| page.policy | The Page section with a Store policy block. |
Policy pages
Shopify renders the policy pages at /policies/... (privacy, refund, shipping, terms) itself, so they cannot be opened or changed in the theme editor; Index styles their text like a page.
For a policy page you can design, create a page (for example Privacy policy), pick the page.policy template and add the Store policy block. It shows the policy you wrote in Settings › Policies together with your own text, questions and a contact button. Link that page in your footer menu.
Contact form
A form that sends messages to the store's email address from Settings › General. Contact channel blocks list other ways to reach you – email, phone, chat, location, opening hours or Instagram – beside the form.
Contact form – every setting and block explainedCustomer accounts
The account pages – Login, Register, Account, Order, Addresses, Activate account and Reset password – are used with classic customer accounts. Each has a color scheme and spacing.
If your store uses the new customer accounts (Settings › Customer accounts), Shopify hosts the account pages and you style them in the checkout and accounts editor instead; the header's account link still works.
Customer accounts – every setting and block explainedPassword page
Shown while your store is password protected (Online Store › Preferences › Password protection). It shows your logo, a tag above the heading, a heading, a text and a signup form, plus a link that opens the field for the store password.
Password page – every setting and block explained404 page
The page shown for a link that does not exist. It offers a search field and links back to the store.
404 page – every setting and block explainedGift cards
The gift card page (the page a customer opens from their gift card email) shows the card's value, the code with a copy button, a QR code and an Add to Apple Wallet link. It uses the colors and fonts from Theme settings and has no settings of its own.
To sell gift cards, create a gift card product in Products › Gift cards. With Show gift card recipient form on in the Buy buttons block, shoppers can send the card to someone else with a message and a date.
